if you’re interested in making your iPhone or your Droid phone a wireless webcam, then you must install the NDI Phone App. Scott will help you connect this technology for both phone types. This video will explain how to use your phone as a webcam for both Droid and iPhone.

We will first start by setting up the iPhone with the Newtek NDI phone app. This app costs $10 bucks, and in my opinion, it’s well worth the money because the software is simple, and it produces high resolutions with low lag time. If you own an iPhone above a 7, this app is a no brainer. To get the app to work with OBS Studio, you have to install the NewTek OBS integration plugin that can be found below.

It’s a good idea to set up your phone first. That way, you can unequally identify the name of the app in settings. Rember this name because you will need to select it in the OBS Studio sources settings page.

If you own an Android phone, things are a bit different. When you visit the Google Play store, you’ll notice is that the Newtek NDI app costs $20 bucks, updates are infrequent, and the reviews are terrible. These reviews are a huge red flag, and so I suggest going with a different app called IP Webcam. This app is separate from Newtek’s approach because the software requires you attach the video to an OBS browser source. After setting up that source, you start up the app on your phone, and an IP address is created. This IP is added as the URL in the parameter window in OBS Studio. All you do is add /video to the end of the IP and BOOM. You’re in business.

At the end of this video, Scott will demonstrate how to set up a green screen with your wireless phone camera. OBS Studio is where all the work is done with this functionality, and so setup must be executed at OBS. After getting your green screen setup, all you do is create a filter for the NDI source and create a filter that performs a chroma key mask. Set the color mask as green hit save, and you’re in business. Be sure to add a photo or video source below the webcam source so you can see yourself above that layer.
