This tutorial reveals how to increase watch time on your youtube channel with these useful tips. These tricks are provided with the new content creator in mind. Channel strategy changes when you obtain over 20 to 30 visits a day on average with video posts. Until you reach this threshold, your channel is still small. Another gauge is the number of subscribers you have. If you have under 10,000 subs, your channel is still relatively low. These three watch time methods are for those content creators that are still small, but when you grow, some of these watch time boosting techniques may change.

The first way to grow watch time for your channel is to pin a message to your comment section. Most new creators, including me, overlook this technique! The method involves creating a comment that explains to the user that there is a second video that will also add value to the user. Then you add a link to that video for all to see. Upon them clicking the link, there will be another message that will take them to the next video, and it loops forever. This method keeps visitors glued to your channel and will create a snowball effect. Watch time creates more watch time. Youtube is in the business to sell advertising and watch time is money. If you keep people watching you will get more traffic, subscribers and channel engagement. When creating your comment, make sure to keep the message relatively short, so the link can be seen without clicking the read more link. If text is hidden behind a click, there will be a percentage of visitors who won’t click it.

The next watch time technique involves channel image links seen in the lower right-hand corner of your channel image. It is not uncommon for new content creators to add links to Facebook, Instagram, and Twitter. Do you think from a budding content creator that sending people away from your channel that this is a good strategy? Remember you are trying to grow as fast as humanly possible, so your channel receives more authority. The objective is to rank on topics that generate more search, and the only way you will rank on these topics is to get more subscribers, comments, and likes. THIS GOAL IS YOUR PRIMARY OBJECTIVE from a new creators perspective. It should be your goal to eliminate all links that send visitors away from your channel. So I suggest that you remove all the social media links and create a subscribe link instead.

HOW TO MAKE YOUR SUBSCRIBE LINK

#1 Go to this video to learn how to get your channel link https://youtu.be/CMrv_D78oxY
#2 Add this code to your YouTube channel URL ?sub_confirmation=1

Now that you have added this link you now have another way to drive subscribers to your channel… GET SUM!!!!

The next tip is adding end screens to the end of your videos. This too is an overlooked way to drive more watch time on your channel. All you have to do is select a video in Beta Studio and click the “End Screen” button seen on the right side of the page. Upon clicking that button, you have several end screen elements that you can add. I suggest that you add only one video or one playlist to the end of your video. Adding more than one will likely make the user confused or indecisive because they are in an alpha brain wave state and don’t want to figure out anything. They don’t want to have to do work, and if they have to think to make a decision, they won’t make one. Just add one video end screen link and one subscribe link and that it.

Videos are good, but playlists are much much better at growing watch time because playlists keep them watching for a longer time. This is why playlists are so essential for your channel.
