Does your server timeout due to lengthy PHP processes? The solution is to modify your php.ini file which overrides these limitations created by your hosting company.

★ What the Heck is a PHP.INI file ★
A php.ini file controls the performance of your shared hosting account. Things like memory limits, allowed process times and much more are controlled with this file. Every host is different but thankfully Host Gator’s system if reasonably straightforward. You have the option of modifying the file via the CPANEL but Scott approaches the modifications by first creating the file and then opening up the physical file via FTP. He edits the file with something called Brackets which is a free code editor and then uploads it back to the server.

★ What to Do If The Problem Persists ★
If the problem persists after creating and editing the php.ini file, there is a fallback plan. The solution is a plugin called Backup Guard. The plugin code is written in such a way that timeouts don’t occur. Creating backups are simple. You can download the archive file to your hard drive for safekeeping, and restores are easy. The only downside is migrations from one location to another require extra software that costs $20. It’s kind of a bummer your site is already up and running so you probably won’t need it anyway.

Best of luck with your Duplicator backups and your php.ini file
